It’s D9 Launch Day! The Future of Drupal (and Some Virtual Partying Today)

The much-anticipated Drupal 9 released today, June 3, 2020, and with this release, Drupal proves that such a major version upgrade should be easier than ever before. That’s interesting since Drupal is known for being one of the most complex open-source content management systems (CMS) out there. Ah, but it is also a powerful tool for building incredible websites and compelling digital experiences.

Perhaps one of Drupal’s most famous attributes is its consistently high-security standards. This would explain why government and higher education lean more toward Drupal not only because of the lock-tight security features but also because of the governance over roles and workflows optimized for larger teams with content-heavy, multiple sites. With Drupal 9’s launch, they promise “unparalleled innovation” making Drupal better than ever before. We are excited to see this unfold.

So what does this release actually mean? And for that matter, now what happens to Drupal 7 and Drupal 8 with the Drupal 9 release? (Drupal 7 and 8 will be supported by the Drupal community through November 2021. Vendor Extended Support will be provided until at least 2024.)

How long will Drupal 9 be supported? (Estimated end of 2023 with a Drupal 10 release in the middle of 2022.) What is Drupal 8.9? (A long-term support-LTS- minor release of Drupal 8.) What is the difference between Drupal 9 and Drupal 8? So many questions, so many answers so our Drupal experts are filling you in on what you can expect. Contact us to learn:

“Together they Build.” Remotely they party! (Today, in fact)

The Drupal community is vast and global since Drupal is an open-source platform. These communities come together for DrupalCon conferences, DrupalCamps, and of course! Release parties.

In fact, with Drupal 8’s launch in 2017, the community had over 250 launch parties all over the world. Now with COVID-19 making our worlds remote and taking everything we do online, there are bound to be great virtual launch parties underway today.

Drupal wants you to join in the celebration adding your #CelebrateDrupal to your photos, videos, and events. Also, look for  #Drupal9LaunchDay  #Drupal9
