Business Need
The Tulane School of Public Health needed a brand-new homepage design that was responsive across mobile and tablet devices. The school’s communication department sought a modernized digital presence that would better reflect the institution, and partnered with Sanmita to update their site.
Key Challenges
The project began with a single directive: build a new homepage. With minimal budget for new images or visual assets, our team had to rely on resourcefulness to create impact without overspending. Adding to the challenge, leadership’s preferred design inspiration—American Airlines—clashed with the organization’s established brand limitations. The timeline was set at six weeks, shorter than the eight weeks proposed by competing vendors.
Solution
Sanmita built on its prior work with Tulane’s central communications team. We worked closely with the school’s communications lead to clarify expectations and translate leadership’s design vision within brand and technical constraints. Our team created the homepage design, optimized for mobile and tablet, and delivered XHTML code that could be implemented on any CMS. At the time, the site ran on CommonSpot.
Results
- Delivered a responsive homepage within the six-week timeline, overcoming skepticism and exceeding expectations
- Provided a modern design that aligned with leadership’s vision in adherence to brand guidelines
- Established a collaborative relationship with Tulane’s communications team for future projects, including potential Drupal migration in partnership with Acquia
